Recondition your mind to freedom

Our minds are a product of conditioning based on the experiences of the past.
Behavior in the present and future is a product of  the interaction between the environment and the mind.

Mindfulness is the attention of the movements of the mind
Practicing mindfulness is the antidote for mindlessness and the basis for reconditioning the mind

Recondition the mind to increase control of freewill
Developing freewill brings personal freedom.

Know Your Mind

One of the Buddha's realizations of the mind,

"Whatever an enemy might do to an enemy, or a foe to a foe,
the ill-directed mind can do to you even worse."

and paraphrased from a positive perspective:

Whatever a friend may do for a friend, or a loved one for a loved one,
the well-directed mind can do for you even better.

Enlightenment

The journey to enlightenment, is the enlightenment of the journey; The Enlightened is Enlightenment, for he or she knows all are one.

Love

What brings true happiness? What creates long-lasting contentment?

Love

Not sexual love
but the love that holds and strengthens family.

Know that you have a universal family,
that the man or woman on the street is your spiritual sibling,
and that you are the daughter or son of your Mother-Father who has been known by many names.

This love is expressed by kindness, empathy, and friendship.

Ford the River

Are we really self-aware? Perhaps we are seeing our universe with near-sighted eyes. We are all spectators sitting on the sandy bank of a great, turbulent river. And we are drawing circles in the sand. Some stop to gaze into the depths for purpose. These people are resolved to journey across the river’s frothy waters.

Routine sometimes keeps us from remembering the beauty of being alive. When we look again at a seemingly-mundane life as a special opportunity to embrace what’s real, all things become objects of intrigue. The cycle of ebb and flow carries us: day melts into night, which fades into today. A new moment might feel the same as the last without introspection. But during conscientious thought, appears the awareness: I am out of touch but I am the controller of my pain and longing. Fear only exists because I cannot understand its source.

Frustration impedes us. What is frustration but a tributary of action cut off by an inability to allow what must be. Make room for that pause in volition. If you let the current take you for a ride, the butterflies of tension within you will find another home. We are sometimes turned against ourselves because of disappointment. We want ourselves, or others, to sail in one direction but the wind blows us in another. While expectation is what normally drives action, it need not negatively affect us should we be flexible in our acceptance of unforeseeable outcomes.

Listening

A whisper can be

a refreshing breeze
a whisper can tease
restless minds appeased
by a whisper
whispers please
the rustle of leaves
comforts trees
God's whisper
my ears, thieves

Paradigm Shift

The world moves at a furious pace but we feel it at rest. The turbulence of society is like this. The tides are changing. The ocean is being stirred up. Those individuals that are making the motions of change have a subtle influence on the present but in the extended frame of reality, they cause a butterfly effect on all that we will perceive and understand about the mechanisms of living. Self-interest is turning into self-nonexistance as our view is changed by the mind-adjusters (people that are happy influence the happiness of others in a positive way). A global family where everyone puts all their eggs into one shared basket will come to be. The class-divide will disappear. Internationality will cease to be. We after all, come from one nation: God's nation. You are the change. You'll see if you quiet those spontaneous thoughts and observe how the outside blends with your mind's stillness. An observance of your integration into a realm of spiritual brotherhood/sisterhood will come when you decide to change. When you see the larger patern that incompases you and every other living organism. Your life as you live it today does not have to lead to a dead end. Let it extend. How far can you go? What is the purpose of your existance? How does your happiness ebb and flow, and why the fluctuation? There is a form of being that allows self-satisfaction to extend into the entirety of your remaining years.
We know how and we are going to participate in a life-experiment so that the big picture becomes clearer. Perhaps the most outstanding facts that we do know are that true wealth is spiritual wealth; a richness that lies outside income and materialism. We know that the love for family and your true I AM defeats evil, cruelty, and selfish aims. We know that after you remove all negativity of self, and any ill-evaluations of those that interact with us, through the observation of thoughts, words and actions, you live more efficiently. Negativity has weight and it slows you down. Optimism, universal love of an extended family, and a desire to do God's will (each person can come to figure out exactly what that is), however, promotes a chain reaction of positive outcomes that more than makes up for the deference of self-interest of the present. Embody love, friendship, kindness and truth, and then you will feel a pervading, meaningful happiness and a new sense of purpose.

Smile :-)

Real humor starts coming when the mind loses its internalization, when thoughts are indistinct from action, and when there is inactivity, there is infinite peace.

"When you realize how perfect
                 everything is you will tilt
        your head back and
  laugh at the sky."

            -- Buddha

Here's to all of us having a good laugh!!

The freedom of being one and many

I feel peace. I am peace.
My mind is aware of the silence of within.
I sense the vibrancy of life beyond my body.
This is the experience of the day.
The people make their beautiful noises
indicating to me that they are busy inside and out;
Often, this is a comfortable human preoccupation of doing and being.

At night, it’s a different story, but yet the same:
Tucked under the covers snugly beside my wife, I feel her warmth.
It is derived of the same heat emitted by her heart during the day
-- that which induces true happiness in me.
Lying next to her, I observe her briefly:
She is experiencing one of those nice dreams.

The first and final verse of The Dhammapada*

Way-points on the path of enlightenment

Chapter I, verse 1:

All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thought. If a man speaks or acts with a [kind] thought, [happiness] follows him, as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the carriage.

Chapter XXVI, verse 423:

Him I call indeed a Brahmana** who knows [from where he comes from], who sees heaven and hell, has reached the end of births, is perfect in knowledge, a sage, an whose perfections are all perfect.

Apotheosis

Reality is an artifice, I am absolute
but don’t take my word for it, there’s relativity in the truth.
Slow down. Slow down for a bit.
Human-doing is confusing, ‘human-being’ is more appropriate.
Just breathe, I’m the breath within.
Past the present is the future transmitted in the wind.

He, she, we or they, I will always be ‘That It’.
The One instilled in everything, the Q that never quits.
I don’t do the questioning, I just do the beckoning,
I don’t eschew the animal, the cannibal, the king or queen—
not until the apocalyptic day of reckoning

Observe me at my apogee, reach me at my perigee
Elevate me to the acme of awareness, always be aware of me.
I’m on another level, the world spins on my toes,
I look upon the Earth as The One that no one knows.
